Called ECG, it is a measuring device used to explore the cardiac function of your pet. Indeed, at each pulsation, the heart is crossed by an electrical impulse that can be measured by means of an ECG.
Electrodes are placed at different points on your animal to capture the electrical signal of the heart. The ECG then transcribes on a screen or on paper the electrical trace of the heart of the dog or the cat.
The ECG can be used on various occasions:
-To detect possible heart rhythm problems
-To evaluate the effects of a treatment when monitoring your pet
-To check correct heart function before anesthesia
- To observe the rhythm of the heartbeat during a general anesthesia.
The electrocardiogram is a painless examination that can be performed within minutes on your pet.
Using an optical fiber and a camera, it is possible to visualize on a screen the different parts of the internal anatomy of the companion animals. There are different areas accessible through endoscopy:
- Endoscopy of the nasal cavities or rhinoscopy: to identify the anomalies of the nasal cavities such as abscesses, tumors or even the presence of foreign bodies such as spikelets which can then be removed by a small clamp that can exit at the end of the optical fiber .
- Digestive endoscopy: it allows the visualization of the oral cavity, the esophagus, the stomach and the beginning of the digestive tract. It is thus possible to detect digestive abnormalities such as masses, ulcerations, inflammations or the presence of foreign bodies.
Thanks to clamps known as "foreign body" it is possible in certain precise circumstances to recover the abnormal elements ingested by the animal.
- Colonoscopy: in the same way that it is possible to explore the stomach and the beginning of the digestive tract, it is possible to discover the end of the digestive tract by visualizing the rectum and the colon thanks to the optical fiber of the digestive tract, endoscope.
Biopsy forceps can also be used to take small pieces of the digestive tract for analysis and thus the diagnosis.
